We come to your home or office in Bellevue, cut and program the spare to your car, and test it with you.
Why a spare is easier now
With a working key in hand, the cut can be copied and many cars allow a new key to be added through the existing one. Without any key, the job becomes an all keys lost visit, which takes more work.
Kiosk copy or locksmith?
Key kiosks in grocery and hardware stores can copy many basic keys and some chip keys. High-security laser-cut keys, smart keys and many remote-head keys usually need to be cut and programmed to the car, which is what we do on site.
Bought a used car with one key?
Used cars often come with a single key. Adding a second one is a good first step after buying a car, and on many vehicles we can also remove keys you cannot account for.
What affects the job
A spare is usually the simplest key job there is, because there is a working key to copy and, on many cars, to add the new one through. Smart keys and laser-cut keys take longer than basic chip keys. See what affects the cost, and check the neighborhoods we cover across Bellevue.
Questions about spare keys
Can you copy a smart key or a fob?
For many vehicles, yes. Smart keys are programmed to the car rather than copied, and we do that on site.
Will Home Depot make a spare car key?
Some stores can copy basic keys and certain chip keys. If your key is a smart key, a laser-cut key or a remote-head key, a locksmith is usually the better route.
Can you remove keys I do not have anymore?
On many vehicles, yes. If a previous owner may still have a key, ask us about removing unknown keys from the car’s memory while we add yours.
